Second Annual Parking Lot Dash
Some traditions have strange beginnings. Last year a member of our Senior Leadership challenged the staff to a sprint across the third level of the parking lot structure. He lost miserably to our very own Speedy Gonzales—Josh Anderson (the video of the event is still floating somewhere in cyber space). The event was so much fun that the Student Life Council decided to repeat it and make it an annual Spring Semester end event. So on the last day of Monday classes we gathered on top of the parking structure, marked out the course and waited to find out who would show up.
This year the reigning champion, Josh Anderson, represented Phoenix Seminary staff on foot. Our president, Dr. DelHousaye, participated in his Mini Cooper. Joe Dalfonso, Andy Maurer and Bill Munn were the male student representatives. And at the last minute, female Carmen Enns decided to participate after running to her car and tying on her sneakers, while still in a dress. Dr. DelHousaye was convinced of winning the race until starter Dr. Moody told him he had to turn the car off, take the key out of the ignition and not put it back in until the race officially started.
The race was over in a few seconds, but, once again, Josh Anderson separated himself from the pack and finished as the clear winner. Should we let him participate next year?
