Seminary Scholarships

NEW STUDENT APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 1, 2013 for all Fall 2013 – Spring 2014 applications.

Dean’s Scholarship

Award: Up to 50% of tuition (max 9 hrs). Minimum 6 hours each term for fall & spring, and minimum 4 hours for summer.

Description: Awarded for a full academic year (fall, spring, & summer).  Student may apply in any semester within the current academic year. The Dean’s scholarship is need based and the FAFSA must be completed to be eligible to receive this award. The applicant must be admitted (sans probationary or provisional status) into the MDiv, MABL or MAC program. MAC students must be enrolled for the minimum required credit hours at Phoenix Seminary and will be awarded for their Phoenix Seminary credit hours only.

A new application and FAFSA is required at the start of each new academic year.

Phoenix Seminary Institutional Scholarship – New Students

Award: 30-50% of tuition (minimum 4 hours, maximum 9 hours per semester).

Description: Applicant must be admitted (sans probationary or provisional status) into the MDiv, MABL or MAC program program.  This scholarship will be awarded for the fall and spring semesters. Applications must be received by the Financial Aid/Admissions Application deadline.

The Kuns’ Foundation Scholarship

Award: 100% tuition, required course texts/materials, and registration fees (minimum 18 credit hrs per academic year required).

Description: Candidates for this scholarship are those who plan to serve overseas full time in a cross-cultural ministry context OR those who plan to enter full time vocational ministry in a domestic ministry context (US/Canada) that is intentionally missional. Missional is defined as a ministry that understands itself to be cross-cultural and that adopts a missionary stance in relation to the community it serves. Preference is given to students planning foreign mission work.

Applications are accepted in the fall term only. This scholarship is awarded for the fall, spring, and summer semesters and it will be provided for the entire length of the student’s degree program.  To qualify, the applicant must be admitted (sans probationary or provisional status) into the MDiv or MABL degree program. This is a needs based scholarship and the FAFSA must be completed along with the application’s budget worksheet.

Recipients must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours per academic year to remain eligible for this scholarship.  Applications and all required forms must be received by the Financial Aid/Admissions Application deadline.

Kuns Church-Ministry Recommendation form

Recommendation form(s):  Please complete the top box of the form(s), then distribute the recommendation to the appropriate person.  Provide the person making the recommendation a self-addressed, stamped security-style business envelope.  Ask them to complete the form, seal it in the envelope, sign across the envelope flap and send it back to you.  If you receive the returned recommendation form, do not open it, but submit it to the Financial Aid Office.  If preferred, your mentor or pastor/church personnel may submit their recommendation directly to the Financial Aid Office.

The Robert & Ethel MacPherson Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000 each semester (fall & spring). Minimum 4 hours required for each semester.

Description: Due to the generosity of the MacPherson family, this scholarship has been created to help students with financial need.  The FAFSA must be completed to determine eligibility.  It will be awarded for the fall and spring semesters.  Applicants must be admitted (sans probationary or provisional status) into the MDiv, MABL or MAC program program.  Students in the MAC program must be enrolled for the minimum required credit hours at Phoenix Seminary and will be awarded for their Phoenix Seminary credit hours only.

2013 – 14 Financial Overview Worksheet

Women of Momentum Scholarship (New Scholarship for female students)

Award: $500 each semester (fall/spring). Minimum 4 hours required for each semester. 

Description:  Women of Momentum is an association that works to provide resources to benefit the Phoenix Seminary community—primarily through the awarding of scholarships to select women who demonstrate financial need as they enter into their final year of study in the MDiv or MABL degree program.

Eligibility Criteria:  Applicant must be a female student enrolling in the final two semesters of her Master’s level degree program.

GPA Requirement: 3.4

The Jerry G. Booher Scholarship

Award: No new award is available for the 2013-14 academic year.

Description: The purpose of this scholarship is to educate students whose cultural background is non-North American, so they may be trained to be ambassadors for Christ to those of their culture of origin, whether internationally or domestically. Requirements: 1. The applicant must be admitted (sans probationary or provisional status) into the MDiv, MABL or DMin program at Phoenix Seminary. 2. The applicant must be preparing to enter ministry within and to the people of his/her culture of origin. This assumes commonality of language as well as a cultural connectedness. 3. A minimum load of 4 credit hours per semester is required for Masters-level students.  Doctor of Ministry students will also be given consideration. 4. Scholarship application must be completed by the deadline. 5. A personal interview may be required.
