Phoenix Seminary Supports the Family
Many students at Phoenix Seminary have a calling from the Lord to work in vocational ministry which means that not only the student, but the family as well, will be serving. Because Phoenix Seminary takes the family unit seriously, Together in Ministry (TIM) was started to support the wives of male degree students. One of the ways TIM supports wives is the offering of monthly small groups where wives can meet in a safe, supportive environment, share their lives, pray for each other and encourage each other in practical ways as needs arise. These new friends often turn into lifelong friendships. The newest TIM group of 8 women is led by Sharon Sullivan, Phoenix Seminary Receptionist, who has been a pastor’s wife for over 24 years, raised two daughters and is passionate for seminary wives and ministry women to be supported in their roles. The group meets once a month for Bible study as well as an additional Thursday for a Girls Night Out (GNO). The vision of TIM is “to connect, support and prepare ministry wives throughout the Phoenix Seminary community for a lifetime of service.” This includes wives of new students and alumni as well. Sharon notes that her desire is for “any like-minded women to have a safe and confidential place to pray for and encourage one another. Ministry couples often have unique needs and not a lot of places to share them in confidence. TIM is a place to find resources for those needs whether it’s about finances, marriage, parenting or ministry.”
Michelle Lindsay, a new TIM wife and student, is an active member of the current TIM group. She states, “Together in Ministry has provided such a safe place for me to share life with women who understand the challenges and celebrations associated with seminary. This community provides just the support and love that I need during this season of life. I have no doubt that the friendships made here will last a lifetime.” Another new TIM wife had this to say, “It warms my heart that Phoenix Seminary has such a vision as TIM. A program that celebrates the unity of marriage and its importance is guaranteed to have a powerful impact in the Kingdom. I am excited to be a part of TIM.” For more information on how to get connected with TIM, contact Sharon Sullivan at 602-429-4945 or email@example.com.
