This course examines the context and impact of the Reformation, well summed up in the phrase on the Reformation Wall in Geneva: “Post tenebras, lux” (“after darkness, light”). Especially in view is the theology and piety of key Reformers like Martin Luther, John Calvin, William Tyndale and Thomas Cranmer, and that of lesser-known figures like Lady Jane Grey.
